IR Magazine Global Virtual Event

Global event: Live from 8.30 am EDT to 6pm EDT and available for replay on-demand

About the event

IR Magazine has been overwhelmed recently with requests from the global IR community to help navigate these uncharted waters. In response, we held a first-of-its kind virtual IR conference to provide IROs with access to experts from across the globe.

This one-day virtual event was free to attend and live-streamed globally. The sessions will also be available to view on-demand at a later date. The event featured eight sessions in total – panel discussions with experts followed by a live Q&A with the audience and resource libraries to share information. IR professionals from across the globe had the opportunity to network with fellow attendees and share their experiences on issues impacting public companies and their investors. The event was open to all IR professionals.

Holders of the NIRI IRC® credential can earn up to 4 professional development units (PDUs) per day. IRC-credentialed speakers may also earn PDUs. More information is available at

Managing earnings guidance when the future is so unclear

Since March 16 and April 12, 341 companies withdrew annual guidance. Sixty companies withdrew quarterly guidance; of these, 45 companies withdrew annual and quarterly guidance at the same time, based on a search of the Intelligize database. With Covid-19 prompting significant uncertainty about when we can return to some semblance of normality, many more companies are considering whether they should withdraw, update or confirm their annual guidance. In this session, we will discuss:

    • Considerations for companies that haven’t yet withdrawn guidance but might be planning to do so
    • A search for certainty: if your company has to withdraw guidance, what should your messaging be?
    • How to assess the metrics to update the investment community on
    • How to work with the investment community to help them update their financial models if guidance is withdrawn
    • A close look at the nature of guidance-related questions that analysts have asked on earnings calls during the last month.

    Todd Hicks, CEO, Intelligize
